The future of the chemical industry

This article was printed in the Financial Times a few weeks ago and it provides interesting comments on the future of the chemical industry. Some time ago we used to see three basic strands of innovation: creation of alternatives to scarce natural products, substitution of older less efficient processes and creation of new molecules. Today, our industry is more about financial engineering and short-term shareholder value.
